My aunt claimed this vintage knitting pattern from a turf-out at her place of employment. It’s fascinating on two levels: first, as is often commented on, the vague-wave-of-hand style of instruction, compared with modern pattern writing. Second, the actual construction: the heel is turned with a brusque bit of decreasing either side of the seam stitch (“seam stitch”?!) and then joined with a three-needle cast-off!
